Physical therapy

Physical therapy can be beneficial to patients who have experienced sports injuries, surgery or trauma, and it can play a key role in orthopedic care. Physical therapy helps restore strength and movement to the affected area of the body and helps improve proper walking, balance and transfer skills.

Occupational therapy

Occupational therapy assesses a patient's ability to function independently. Our occupational therapists address the physical, cognitive and mental challenges accompanying a patient's injury or condition. Our occupational therapists assist patients in developing the skills they need to carry out day-to-day activities.

Northside Hospital's occupational therapists also help rehabilitate patients after work-related injuries through our occupational medicine program, Company Care.

Hand therapy

Certified hand therapy is a rehabilitative service for patients with conditions of the upper extremities. Our certified hand therapists (CHTs) are experienced in certified hand therapy, occupational therapy, massage therapy and ergonomics. CHTs uses a variety of techniques and tools in therapeutic intervention, including exercise and manual therapy.

Speech therapy

Speech therapy, also called speech language pathology, evaluates and treats a patient’s ability to effectively communicate through speech and language skills. Speech therapy can also help patients with the ability to swallow, and it can play a key role in comprehensive stroke care.

Pulmonary and cardiac rehabilitation

We offer inpatient and outpatient pulmonary and cardiac rehabilitation programs to help patients recover from surgeries or manage diseases. Our programs involve individualized treatment plans, which may include physical therapy, monitored exercise and dietary education.
