PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program Director
Duane Ashe, PharmD, BCPS, CPh is the PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program Director for Northside Hospital. A native Floridian, born in Jacksonville and raised in Miami, Duane earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University in 2003. He then completed a one-year pharmacy practice residency at the Bond Community Health Center in Tallahassee, FL; serving as the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) Pharmacist/Administrator for Leon County. His current role is that of a Clinical Pharmacist at Northside Hospital since August of 2019. Previously, Duane was employed at Largo Medical Center (Pharmacy Clinical Coordinator from 2016 to 2019; PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program Director from 2017 to 2019). Prior to his employment at Largo Medical Center, Duane worked at Oak Hill Hospital (Pharmacy Clinical Coordinator from 2012 to 2016; Lead Clinical Pharmacist from 2009 to 2012). Duane serves as a preceptor for a number of colleges including LECOM and USF. He is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist. Duane is an active member of Florida Society of Health-System Pharmacists (FSHP) Southwest society, MAD-ID, and Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity Incorporated.
PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program Coordinator
Abel Carranza, PharmD, BCPS is a Clinical Pharmacist at Northside Hospital. Originally from South Florida, Abel graduated from University of Florida with a BS in Biology. Afterward, he attended Palm Beach Atlantic University where he earned his Doctorate in Pharmacy. He completed an ASHP-accredited PGY-1 pharmacy residency at Cleveland Clinic Martin Health in Stuart, FL. Post-residency, Abel joined Northside Hospital as a Clinical Pharmacist. He is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist. Abel is an active member of American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and Florida Society of Health-System Pharmacists (FSHP) Southwest Society and is passionate about the profession of Pharmacy.

Medication Safety Officer, Northside Hospital
Dorothy Fox, BS Pharm, CPh, CPPS is the Director of Pharmacy and Medication Safety Officer for Northside Hospital. Born in Miami, Florida but raised in Maryland and Virginia, Dorothy earned her BS in Pharmacy from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana in 1994. After 15 years in the retail and management setting, Dorothy transitioned to hospital pharmacy and worked as a clinical pharmacist before accepting a Director role in both North Florida and South Florida. In her current role, Dorothy provides leadership and direction for 33 staff members, precepts pharmacy students for LECOM and USF, serves as the Medication Safety Officer for the Northside Hospital, Chair of the West Florida Division Medication Safety Committee and is a Certified Professional in Patient Safety. She is an active member of FSHP, ASHP, ISMP Medication Safety Officers Society, HCA Medication Safety Advisory Group, NADDI, and SIDP. In her spare time, she enjoys playing tennis and spending time with family.
Pharmacy Operations Coordinator, Northside Hospital
Margo was born and raised in Buffalo New York where she attended and earned her pharmacy degree from State University of New York at Buffalo in 2008. She then completed a Pharmacy Practice PGY-1 Residency at Emory Healthcare in Atlanta, Ga. Following residency, Margo worked as a Clinical Pharmacist at a large not-for-profit trauma one center in Raleigh, NC. During her time there, she was able to develop her depth of clinical knowledge by working within multiple areas of the hospital. Following her tenure as Clinical Pharmacist, Margo served as a Clinical Coordinator in an HCA facility. As Clinical Coordinator, she was responsible for planning, directing, and implementing clinical pharmacy services to provide high quality patient care by optimizing drug therapy, minimizing adverse effects and reducing costs to the hospital. Currently, as the Pharmacy Operations Coordinator at Northside Hospital, Margo has gained an abundance of experience in leading the day-to-day functions within the pharmacy as well as assists to achieve the Pharmacy Department Vision. She serves as Co-Chair of the Northside Hospital Medication Safety Committee and is passionate about driving change as it relates to medication safety. In her free time, Margo enjoys spending time with her family.
Pharmacy Clinical Coordinator
Derek Vuong, PharmD, BCPS, CPh is the Pharmacy Clinical Coordinator at Northside Hospital. A non-native Floridian, he was born in Vietnam and raised in Sarasota. Derek earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from LECOM School of Pharmacy and completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency at Bayfront Medical Center in Saint Petersburg, Florida. Derek is passionate about critical care medicine and parenteral nutrition therapy. After several years as a critical care pharmacist, he transitioned into leadership as Clinical Coordinator at Medical Center of Trinity prior to joining Northside. Derek is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist. He enjoys clinical research and teaching pharmacy residents/students to advance the practice of pharmacy.
Anthony Jackson, PharmD, is a Clinical Pharmacist at Northside Hospital. Originally from North Florida/ Panhandle area, Anthony graduated from University of West Florida with a BS in Public Health and minor in Biology. He achieved his Doctorate in Pharmacy from Auburn University. Anthony joined the Pharmacy Team at Northside Hospital as a Clinical Pharmacist. Anthony obtained his SIDP Antimicrobial Stewardship certification.
Will Bienz, Pharm D, BCPS, is a clinical pharmacist at Northside Hospital. Will attended the University of Central Florida for undergraduate and majored in Chemistry. He completed pharmacy school at the University of Florida, College of Pharmacy, St. Petersburg campus where he was active in student government and Kappa Epsilon. Post graduation, he accepted a position as Pharmacy Manager for CVS Pharmacy and then transitioned into hospital by accepting a PRN position at Northside Pharmacy. He accepted a full-time position after realizing his true passion was in hospital pharmacy. He is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist. In his free time, Will enjoys golfing and exercising.
