St. Petersburg, FL – Terrence Patterson, who is 66 years old, has been living with severe hip pain for many years. After several sleepless nights in pain, he finally decided he needed a hip replacement. Patterson who is a snowbird from Syracuse, NY, had decided to wait until he could have his surgery at Northside Hospital with Dr. Anthony Albert, Orthopedic Surgeon. Dr. Albert utilizes Joint Point™, which is a non-invasive computer navigation, preoperative digital templating, case planning and intra-operative feedback software.
JointPoint™ integrates easily into the direct anterior approach hip replacement technique. "Northside Hospital is privileged to have Dr. Anthony Albert on our medical staff. He is one of only a handful of physicians in Pinellas County who perform the new minimally invasive approach to hip surgery," stated Northside Hospital CEO Dia Nichols. "Ultimately this approach significantly reduces pain and offers a much speedier recovery. The Joint Point software he uses with this procedure is the only one like it in the area, and we are happy to offer it."
Dr. Albert performed the surgery on Tuesday, December 11 and Patterson was up walking the next morning to then be discharged later in the afternoon. "I am amazed at how well I am feeling. I was nervous I wouldn't be able to stand but got right up and then walked down the hall," Patterson said.
He is also looking forward to getting back to his previous active lifestyle. A rugby player into his fifties, Patterson is looking forward to start jogging again while he enjoys the beautiful winter weather in St. Petersburg.
