Dr. Carlos Estevez, MD, FACC

Doctor Estevez joined the Heart Institute in 2001 after practicing cardiology in Saint Petersburg for a number of years. He obtained his M.D. degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana. He completed his internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship program at the Indiana University Medical Center where he also served as Chief Medical Resident.

Doctor Estevez is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians, the American College of Chest Physicians, the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association and Council of Clinical Cardiology.

Doctor Estevez has been an active member of the medical staffs of the local hospitals he has served. He was founder and medical director of the echocardiography laboratory at St. Anthony’s which was the first echo laboratory in Saint Petersburg. He also served as Director of the Coronary Care Unit, Chairman of the Coronary Committee and Chairman of the Cardiology Division at Saint Anthony’s.

Doctor Estevez performed the first successful coronary angioplasty procedure in Saint Petersburg at All Children’s Hospital where he also served as member of the Executuve Committee, Chairman of the Division of Adult Cardiology and Chairman of the Department of Cardiovascular Services.

Doctor Estevez has volunteered many hours of community service to the American Heart Association where he has served as member of the Board od Directors, President of the Suncoast Chapter, Chairman of the Professional Education Committee and Chairman of the Helen Harper Brown Foundation Research Committee. He has been a volunteer to the Free Clinic providing cardiology care to the needy.

He is married to wife Kathleen and has five children, two of whom are physicians. He enjoys traveling and skiing with his family.
