Hospital Receives Stroke Award For Second Consecutive Year

St. Petersburg, FL - Northside Hospital was recently awarded the Gold Plus Award for stroke care from the American Heart Association’s Get with the Guidelines program. This is the second year that the hospital has been presented with this award. The award recognizes Northside Hospital’s commitment to the implementation of superior care for stroke patients.
To receive the award, Northside Hospital achieved of 85 percent or higher adherence to all Get With The Guidelines-Stroke Quality Achievement indicators for two or more consecutive 12-month intervals and achieved 75 percent or higher compliance with six of 10 Get With The Guidelines-Stroke Quality Measures, which are reporting initiatives to measure quality of care. These measures include aggressive use of medications, such as tPA, antithrombotics, anticoagulation therapy, DVT prophylaxis, cholesterol reducing drugs and smoking cessation, all aimed at reducing death and disability and improving the lives of stroke patients.

Our Neuroscience Institute is equipped with technologically advanced equipment and dedicated neurologic physicians, enabling us to offer stroke patients in the area with superior care.”
Northside Hospital opened its Neurointervention Suite in 2010. This medical suite offers patients advanced diagnostic and interventional treatment for strokes, aneurysms and other neurologic conditions. The Neuroscience Institute is rapidly becoming a recognized center for excellence in stroke care.
