May 11, 2010 – St. Petersburg, FL – On May 5, Northside Hospital made a special delivery to the teachers at Blanton Elementary School. The hospital provided the teachers at the school with tote bags, filled with supplies such as sticky notes, highlighters, notebooks, hand sanitizer, and tissues.
The delivery was done as a part of Teacher Appreciation Week, which ran from May 3 – May 7. Northside Hospital works with Blanton Elementary throughout the year, via school supply drives, mentoring, holiday gift drives and more. The hospital adopted the elementary school in 2009 as a part of former St. Petersburg mayor Rick Baker’s Mayor’s Mentors and More program.
“Our partnership with Blanton Elementary has grown over the past year, and I’m glad that we can help out such a great school,” said Stephen J. Daugherty, President and CEO of Northside Hospital. “All of the children who attend Blanton are from our local community, and it is important to provide support and assistance to ensure that they have the necessary tools for the most productive learning environment.”
