Prevention

There are major risk factors which research has shown are associated with increases in stroke, such as advanced age, heredity, tobacco use, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and physical inactivity. The more risk factors a person has, the greater the chance he or she will have a stroke or other cardiovascular disease. Some of the preventative services we provide include:

  • Risk assessments
Free printed risk assessments are available through Consult-A-Nurse by calling 877-4-HCA-DOCS. Stroke risk assessments as well as blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose are offered throughout the year.
  • Educational Classes
Classes on quitting smoking, losing weight and prevention of stroke and heart disease are offered throughout the year. For a listing of our upcoming classes, click here.
